To send an Email campaign or publish a Landing Page, you must first set up their corresponding subdomains on your hosting server. After running the setup, you must check if the subdomains are working.
CNAME records propagation
Before validating a subdomain in RD Station Marketing, CNAME records must have already been propagated. To make sure they have already been propagated, you can use a tool called What'sMyDNS.
To check the records, enter the subdomain, select CNAME record, click the gear icon and fill in the Expected value field with the record value. This procedure will verify the propagation of the inserted value on a number of DNS servers. See the example below:
If everything is green (as shown in the image above), that means the records have propagated. In this case, you can now validate your subdomain in RD Station Marketing, send email campaigns and publish your Landing Pages.
How to identify problems with subdomain setup
● Landing Pages
You can tell there is a problem with Landing Page setup if, while testing it, the access link contains rds.land.
For example: suppose your Landing Page address is materiais.meudominio.com.br/meu-ebook, but, when you access it, the link displayed is meudominio.rds.land/meu-ebook.
In the case of emails, there are a few signs that indicate problems with subdomain setup, such as campaigns that send broken links or the failure to receive email statistics.
What to do when subdomains do not validate or in the event of setup problems
When you check the subdomain records and they are not green, or when you identify one of the problems listed above, there are two possibilities that should be checked:
1. The records have not been set up properly on your hosting server
Servers use different terminology to identify records. To make setup easier, we try to use the most generic terminology possible in the table displaying whitelabel records. However, it is important to pay close attention to the terminology when setting up records on your server.
For example, RD Station Marketing expects the CNAME record type email.seudominio.com.br to have the value 123456.exemplo.com configured. If RD Station Marketing cannot find this exact value, setup will not be validated. This is true for all subdomain records.
In addition, some servers automatically insert quotation marks at the end of records that have already been set up. If that is the case, remove the quotation marks. Otherwise, RD Station Marketing will not validate the domain.
2. The records have been set up successfully; however, they are still in propagation or propagation is oscillating
Usually, propagation takes from 24 to 48 hours. If it takes longer, please contact your hosting server or your company's technical team to investigate what happened.
